MRI Unit - Pinehill Hospital
Client
Ramsay Healthcare
Location
Hitchin
Duration
6 weeks
Value
£125,000
A project utilising existing external space to create parking and a hardstanding to facilitate a much-needed mobile imaging unit for our client Ramsay Healthcare.
Project Profile
Works comprised the removal of an outbuilding and ground clearance to make way for the new hardstanding and parking area. Following ground clearance, a reduced level dig was carried out with the alteration of existing drainage. Trench works were carried out across the site to facilitate the installation of service ducts for the new electrical supplies to feed the imaging unit.
Once drainage alterations were completed the subbase was prepared, formwork and steel reinforcement installed, and the concrete slab poured in accordance with our structural engineers design. Final block paving and bollards were then placed to create the new MRI facility.
Challenge & Solution
To maintain safe access whilst we were creating the new space at the entrance, we employed a logistics manager to ensure the safe delivery of plant and materials as well as manage the installation of electrical services in the entrance road of the hospital. These were installed via trenches and duct work, dug out of hours and covered with road plates to maintain access.
